Senator Joyce Fairbairn
Welcome to my personal professional web page!
Here, you will be introduced to my teaching strategies and my personal mission statement regarding my views on teaching. I also have evidence of my work and links to current work that I am doing.
I am excited to be joining the staff at Senator Joyce Fairbairn; part of Lethbridge #51 School District. I will be teaching language arts, social studies and a heck ton of drama. Being a middle school we will be seeing grades 6-8. Those middle years that still seem to be filled with magic but at the same time introducing glimpses of the people these students are destined to become.
This is not my first time working with Lethbridge #51 as I taught for a semester at LCI as well as two years teaching summer courses.
I started my teaching career in Vauxhall, teaching at their JR/SR High School for 5 years, where I taught English and Social Studies to grades 7-12. I also revitalized their high school drama program. I directed 2 main school productions, during my time, which was open to all students, as well as incorporating shop, fashion design, and art classes to help with stage design and crafting of the production.
I also coached the Cross Country team as well as the girls JV Slow pitch team. I believe no individual is a one trick pony, and it's the combination of multiple interests that allow for the mastery of a desired path in life.
Oh and I've gladly taken on the role (you'll get the pun soon enough) of the resident ONE (old-school nerd educator) introducing such clubs as; anime, 5 week coding class, and Dungeons and Dragons (pun).
Take a look around and enjoy. Please contact me if you'd like to collaborate on and ideas or would like access to any of my resources. Also I having a standing invite to anyone if you'd like to challenge me to a rap battle (WARNING: My looks are deceiving, I'm straight up thug)
