I have included my educational philosophy because it is a key component in knowing who I am as a teacher and a person. I value teaching and the ability it holds to enhance and alter students lives through a positive learning environment. being a teacher is an accomplishment I hold dear and I am very excited to share my love of teaching with my students, as well as, with my school and staff.
Enthusiastic, Gingerly, Passion
Enthusiasm for learning must be done Gingerly in order to inspire the Passion from within, to continue seeking knowledge. Not to mention it's always fun finding ways to use the term Ginger for me.
For me teaching means never giving up the opportunity to learn. To constantly have a source of wonderment and imagination that can remind me of my own passions in life; to find that surprises can truly be around every corner, that magic really does exist, and if you are ever in need of a noble steed, there is no nobler a steed than the majestic unicorn. The best way to go about this is to teach to the students themselves. Teach to them with their interests, their passions, and best of all their utter craziness. Teachers must utilize students own innate ability to seek knowledge and find the lessons from their own curiosities. This can only be done if a teacher allows themselves to be seen as something more than a teacher: they are a student, an advisor heck they're human. Flaws in a teacher connect with the flaws of a student. A teacher can't help but care for the future of one of "their kids" and if you give them a glimpse into your life, they will care for you. This will lead to teaching with respect at its core. A respect that will see a detached student try way harder to complete something for you, than for anyone else, maybe even themselves.
Teachers are also the first step to learning about something beyond what is obvious to a growing student. To be able to take a class into a drama room to explore their own creativity, or to a play to see what that creativity might accomplish. These cannot be felt from the pages of a book. Enjoyment must be allowed in functional learning, with applications that students can relate to and not be distanced from.
My role as a teacher will be to nurture the inner teacher in every student, to allow expression of strengths and confidence in improvement. I will teach with enthusiasm (at times too much), I will make ginger puns (at times too much) and I will teach with passion (at times too much)
